Melbourne Cup Charity Dinner Auction With the Legendary Dick Tayler

It was a great way to watch the Melbourne Cup on screen at Addington Stables, be entertained by great music by CPIT and enjoy the scrumptious three course meal. The event was for Emergency Care Foundation’s Melbourne Cup Dinner and charity Auction.

MC’d by the legendary Dick Tayler, the evening was most enjoyable.

Dick Tayler- best known for his triumph in the 10,000m at the Commonwealth Games, also for his vast racing knowledge, spoke passionately about both his medals and racing.

The Emergency Care Foundation is a charitable organisation focused on improving emergency care through education and research into health issues arising in the life threatening challenges, the emergency department face on a daily basis.

As the charity receives no government funding it relies on grants, events and donation.
This is their latest fund raising initiative held on Melbourne Cup Day in the state of art  Addington Stables.-

Over 200 corporate guests including doctors, lawyers, and race lovers enjoyed drinks and nibbles served on the green, followed by one of the most prestigious horse races in the world!

23 horses went to post after Changing of the guard was scratched. We watched ( on screen) crowd of over 100,000 packed onto the course and the winning horse was Shocking. Shocking’s trainer, Mark Kavannah looked somewhat stunned at the win!

I had a flutter at the venue’s specially installed terminal and bet for Daffodil and lost  while David bet for No. 6 and also lost!

One of the auction packaged prize included a pick up and a return celebrity status return Crown Limousine to and from the Isaac Theatre to Michael Parkinson’s show on 9th November and also a Maharajah banquet for two at Little India.

The eight auction items raked in $6,130.00 besides $50.00 for Tiffany’s meal.

I hope I heard it right that it fetched $3.5 million.

Well done Emergency Care Foundation team!
